Error: Cannot connect to the ipc server

Post by xrodx »

Hello, for some time now my computer is unable to run my scheduled backups. Logs show this:

[12-11-2015 21:00:28] bSchedstarter was started with the following command line
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Softland\Backup4all 5\bSchedStarter.EXE" /HIDE /R "{0E08B827-A1B6-4DAE-85D4-C71D4AC4DED4}" -PRIORITY 2
[12-11-2015 21:00:28] User [Rod] is logged on, hidden cmd line.
[12-11-2015 21:00:28] Sending request to service with params [/R "{0E08B827-A1B6-4DAE-85D4-C71D4AC4DED4}" -PRIORITY "2"]
[12-11-2015 21:00:33] Error: Cannot connect to the ipc server : Cannot connect pipe client
....

Every day I check in the morning, the "backup4all 5 service" is stopped and I have to restart it manually ....What's stopping this service and why? dunno.

Also, I have found a way to backup manually by restarting the service "backup4all 5 service", otherwise I get the IPC error when trying to start the program. The only thing I haven't done yet is reinstall or recreate the jobs.

This all started to fail on October 13, 2015... running Win 10, latest version of backup4all, maybe a windows patch broke the progam.

any help is appreciated

Rodrigo.

Hi,

1. Please make sure you have the latest version of Backup4all 5.5.839
2. Check if the bservice process is set to start automatically at Windows startup.
3. Please make sure the antivirus/firewall does not block the bservice process to run.

@travgonz

If you go to Services, is the Backup4all service started and running?

As per your advice, I checked Task Manager/Services, found B4All was stopped, clicked on "open services," clicked on "restart the service," and am now able to open the program. THIS time.

But on restart or shutdown will B4All revert to the endlessly repeating "There was an error..." message window? (I'm not inclined to do a restart just to find out -- yet.)

Running Win10 Home, updated to latest build, and Backup4all Professional 9.0.290, since about May 13. The only thing I remember changing was to check "go to HTTP if HTTPS isn't available," but there was also a panel that said connect through LAN -- I now can't find either of these. Did I cause the problem?

TIA

Hi,

1. Please make sure the Backup4all service is not disabled from running at startup in Task Manager->Startup.
2. In Control Panel->Services, please make sure the "Startup type" is set to "Automatic"
3. Make sure the antivirus is not blocking that service.
