3000 warnings! Size of File is different (from) catalog

Post by markblum » Fri Dec 27, 2019 5:36 pm

Almost all warnings are for windows system 32 files such as this example:
[12/27/2019 10:09:54 AM] Warning: Size of file "C:\windows\system32\Migration\WSearchMigPlugin.dll" in destination (132624) is different than the size stored in catalog (104760).

Some are in AppData files and some are in other files.

Is the file size mismatch something to be concerned about? Should the system32 and appdata files be excluded from backup?

Hi,

The Windows folder and the system folders should not be backed up. Please exclude them from the backup sources (in Backup Properties->Sources)

The different file size could be related to the fact they were open/in use during the backup. So the Windows Volume Shadow Copy returned a different size of them. You should run again the backup and see if you get the warnings for the same files again.
