How to open Backup files

Post by kitfordham »

I have just backed up all my photographs and want to check that they have been correctly stored but cannot open them.

I'm not techie and beyond double-clicking on on the files on my passport have no idea how to proceed. The file type for reference is: 1_F.z01; and the version of Backup4all is 30 day trial.

Help please!

Best

Kit

Hi,

If the size of the zip file is more than 4 GB, that means Backup4all has used zip64 technology (which allows unlimited zip file size).
You can open it only with Winzip 9.1 or later.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

So we have to purchase winzip to open any archive over 10 gigs? is there away to do a one to one copy without zipping it?

Hi,

You can use Backup4all to restore large zip files, you don't need to purchase WinZip, only if you want to manually extract the large zip file.

If you don't want to zip the files, you can use the Mirror backup type as it will create in destination an exact copy of the source files without zipping them.
