Show warning and error messages when scheduled:
According to the log this is set to "No"
How do I enable it?

Hi,
Please open Backup Properties->Scheduler page and select "Show warnings and errors" option.
Press Save.

And further nothing popped up to indicate there were problems with the backup, onl;y an exclamation mark adainst the hidden notification area icon instead of a on screen notification as with v4

Yes, and close after run is unchecked.
