Differential backups full instead of just adding new files

Post by Mishkin »

I cleaned an old Differential backup job and left file number 1 (the first full backup)
that was created some monthes ago.
After cleaning, I performed a (differential) backup and I saw that the new zip file, number 2,
is again a full backup instead of just adding the new data since file number 1 was created.

Please your help.

I use version 4.5 / 236

Hi,

Please send us the last backup log from View->Job Logs->Last backup log.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

The extensions txt and log are not allowed, I don't know how to attach the file.
Please explain.

Hi,

In Backup Properties->Differential page, there is an option checked:
"Make full backup if the differential exceeds (%): 50% of full backup size"

In the log file there is: "Performing full backup because differential size (64.12 GB) exceeds 50 % of last full backup size"
That means the full was performed because the differential exceeds 50% of the full backup size.
