Delete Files from Backup

Post by rothers »

Backup4All 7.3

We have a large multi-version incremental backup built up of several years. Several large old files on the backup are no longer required and we don't want them backed up.

Is it possible to delete them from the backup .zips ?

Thanks
Neil

Hi,

You cannot delete the files from zip archives.
In this case, you should use the cleanup option to delete the backup versions you want to remove, or you can set a limit for the number of backup versions to keep in destination, with the "merge backups" option selected (in Backup Properties->Type->Storage page)

Thanks for the reply.

Don't think clean will do the job.

I want to keep all the backup versions (they contain many other files that we need).

I only want to delete versions (all versions in this case) of particular files within the backup versions.

These are multi-gigabyte e-mail files that haven't been used for years and are no longer needed and taking up space unnecessarily.

Hi,

You can try to limit the number of file versions in Backup Properties->Type->Storage page.
This way, the old file versions will be deleted from the zip files containing them.
