Crash during large S3 backups

Post by kckleong »

Hi,

I am having a problem with large, password-protected backups (300-500Gb) to S3. Typically, after 4-6 hours, the backup will stop with similar log messages:

[18/06/2024 10:15:18 PM] C:\Users\#####\Documents\Art\2012\Flotilla\Images\P1040625.JPG OK

The crashes don't always occur after retries but often end with, "Zip error: Access violation at address ******** in module 'bResourceStrings.bpl'. Read of address 00000004".

I have tried two S3 providers with the similar results.

I'm running 9.9.916 with a Pro license.

Can anyone offer any help on this? It's driving me slowly insane.

Thank you!

Hi,

I do not have the full log file to see the configurations for that job, but please follow these steps:
1. Make sure you have the latest version of Backup4all 9.9.916
2. Open Backup Properties->Advanced page.
3. Under "Multithreading performance" section, set the number of parallel threads to 1.
4. Press Save and run again the backup.

If you still have the problem, please send us the new log file to support[at]backup4all[dot]com

Unfortunately, reducing the number of threads made no difference.

I have forwarded a copy of the full logs to the e-mail address provided.

Thanks again, Adrian.

Best regards, Kevin
