event log alerts

We use monitoring software to check the event logs on pc's and servers it would be good to have basic backup events logged into windows event logs so we can pickup on successful and failed backups more easyerly. It does not need to state the reason for failure as we would then investigate the issue once we have a warning.
The monitoring software we use can give us a report over a month of the successful and failed backup jobs from the event logs generated by the backup software. This greatly cuts down the time of managing a large number of clients backups.
