Backup to not mounted partition

Post by Xyzzy »

Hello

Please consider adding possibility of backing up to not mounted partition (ie. without drive letter and not mounted to any directory).

This adds a layer of safety:
- accidental disk operations would not be able to damage backup
- ransomware would not be able to encrypt backup files

and also a bit of privacy as well.

Hi,

Can you give such an example of non mounted partitions? We want to make sure we correctly understand your wish.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

RMB on My Computer>Manage>click Disk Management in Storage node in the tree in the left panel>RMB on any item in one of the panels on the right>Change Drive Letter an Paths...

The list field for such partition should be empty (for example for C: drive it shows C:).

Hi,

I now understand what you mean.
At this moment we do not have plans to implement such a feature.
