Existing Mirror

Post by jsonnabend »

I am switching over to B4A. So far so good. I have a question about existing mirrors.

I currently have a few mirrors on my system. They are being maintained by different software. I would like B4A to take over the mirroring. Is it possible to do this without having B4A start from scratch? In other words, can B4A simply start by mirroring only the files that need to be mirrored, not overwriting the ones already mirrored?

Thanks.

Hi,

Backup4all cannot do that. It used its own backup catalog, storing information about the backed up files.
That catalog is used to manage the backup, re-create the job or restore the files.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

Thanks for the response. I see that someone else asked almost the same question around the same time I asked.

Perhaps you could put this down as a feature request? It shouldn't be too hard to have an option to keep the existing mirror. All it would take was a scan-and-compare of the two directory trees (the source and the mirror, that is).
