Warning: Premature end of file reached

Post by homepagestore »

During the backup process, I received "Warning: Premature end of file reached".

What does that mean and what can I do to stop it from happening?

The warning happened during the Testing phase. I have since recovered the last file from the last folder and the recovered file appears to be good. I cannot say anything is wrong with the backup, but I would like to fix the cause.

Thanks,
Richard

The warning does not appear in subsequent backups. So, now I am not worried about this but if I ever find out what the premature end of file means, I will post it here.

Hi,

That problem appears on large backups, on large archive files created in temp.
Usually, the problem is the RAM memory.

When such a problem appears, please run a manual test by pressing the Test button to see it the problem really exists.

Thank you, very good information. I am not sure what about my RAM could cause this, I have 12GB of RAM in a Windows 8 Pro HP Pavilion. The desktop is 4 or 5 years old. I will check memory use next time I see the error.
