Skipping file... The operation completed successfully

Post by fullbore »

This seems a very strange log entry!

Why report a file as being skipped if the operation complete successfully?

Hi,

The operation is successful for the files backed up. The other files, which were skipped, are not in backup. You get a notification about the skipped files in case you want them backed up and you should make sure there is no problem for the backup application to access those files.

Fair enough, though perhaps the way things are worded / arranged in the log could be changed to make it clearer what is happening.

Like saying why the files are being skipped-

[03/08/2013 00:56:31] Archiving files to 533_C.zip
[03/08/2013 01:24:11] Warning: Skipping file C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP13\Data\Updater\Temporary Files\rollback\general\Bases\Apu\apu-0607g.krg
The operation completed successfully

Hi,

Does the above file exists on your computer?

I'm in bed when the backup happens, but if a file can't be found shouldn't the log say that's why it's being skipped.

Hi,

Yes, normally there is a message about the skipping reason. I wanted to know if this is a different reason or the file is missing. When you have such a problem again, you can look in the morning to see if that file exists. The files located in temporary folder are usually deleted by the applications after usage.
