Restore. Cannot display versions of a file.

Post by gustaf4711 »

Hi,

Backup. No problem at all.
B4A runs the job "2020 Proj modified" scheduled twice a day. In the History window B4A show all these backups. When I open any one of the log-files, then I can see that the B4A filters work perfectly and modified files are backed up. Below I include a "clip" from the log-file.

Restore. The problem.

I now wish to restore the file X.pas. The B4A manual has a section "2.4 How to Restore from a Backup". I follow that and in the Explore view I select the job "2020 Proj modified" and then click on the icon "Versions Pane"; the file-tree opens. Here I navigate to the sub-folder in which the x.pas file "lives". When I open the subfolder a horizontal split occurs below the tree. Here I expect the versions of x.pas to appear. Instead just one line is shown. It shows backup data; thus backup type, date, status, ... A screen-dump is attached as restore.jpg

Any suggestion as to how I track where I have committed one of several errors are most welcome.

ChG

Hi,

You must display all file types. For that, please enable the filters on the top of the folder tree (that = equal sign, the - minus and X signs)
This way the file will be also displayed, so you can see its versions at the bottom. Right click the version you want to restore and press "Restore to".
Select a location for restore and press OK.

Thank you Adrian!

I followed your advice, i.e. above the folder-tree I clicked the filter-symbols. The I selected the folder /proj/PostABA/SRC and clicked on it. To my surprise no files show up, despite the fact that there are lots of files and modified files in here.

Could it be, that when I created the "Proj 2020 modified" from the "Proj 2019 modifed" of the previous year, I did something stupid which fools B4A?
