Question about setting a custom split size
Hi,
I want to limit the size of the backup to 45GB per disc(I'm using 50GB discs). The reason I want to do this is because of some burning problem that I haven't being able to resolve.
The problem is that the burn fails when ever I write a 50GB disc full(46,62GB), but it works ok if I leave it to 45GB. This happens on all software, not just on backup4all.
My question is will I have to keep changing the split size manually if I continue adding to a to my backup.
For example if I have a backup that spans over 3 discs (two "full" (45GB) and the third with some data on it)
Do I always have to set the split size according to the available space on the last disc or does backup4all prevent from exceeding the 45GB limit per disc?
If the split option doesn't limit the size per disc, is there any other method of doing this?

Re: Question about setting a custom split size
Hi,
Backup4all will read the free space on that disk and will use it, if that is smaller than the split size.

Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

The burning problem is related to reading the available space on the disc.
For some reason it tries to write a few hundread MB's too much data on the disc. Thats why the burn fails when burning a full disc.
This is why I want to limit it manually to 45GB per disc.
It is very similar to a Win 7 blu ray burning bug. It should only effect the inbuilt win 7 burner, but for me it effects all software.

Does using the split option get around this bug?

Re: Question about setting a custom split size
Hi,
No other client reported this problem. Please make sure there is no problem with the device drivers.
You can set a custom size split to make sure the backup will be fine, or you can use blank disks.
