Program Startup Delay
I do not know if this is normal, but whenever I start the backup4all program, it takes about 30 seconds to see any window. Seems the program is not launched. But after 30 seconds, the initial screen shows.
Is this a known problem and/or is there a work around to get quicker response.
Latest BU4all program, running Win7 64 bit 6Gig Ram Plenty of Hard disk space. 7200RPM hard drives.

Re: Program Startup Delay
Hi,
Do you have large backups?
The problem could be caused by the load delay time of a backup job.

Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
Re: Program Startup Delay
I do not think my backup jobs are large, but I do have quite a few of them.
There are about 44 .ini backup jobs in the inifiles folder. So I guess this may be why.
Each job includes just one folder and its sub folders.
The delay is more annoying than a problem.
I would expect a program to be able to open and read 44 files (of about 18K each) in a lot less than 30 seconds.
Each ini file has about 350 lines.
Perhaps BU4all is using the win API to read the ini files, that may be why it is slowwwww. Or perhaps the code could be optimized, or the settings be stored in a real database.

Hi,
Please note Backup4all loads the bkc catalog files which are larger.

Ah, that would probably explain it. I see those are SQLite files.Support wrote:Please note Backup4all loads the bkc catalog files which are larger.
Thanks for that, but it would be good to see a small message box displayed that B4ALL is loading data, so that users can see that the program has launched.
