Can Zero-Byte Backups Be Stopped From Creating An Empty .ZIP File?

Post by nuspieds »

Hi,

I'm using Backup4All 5.0 Build 464 on Windows 8.1 Pro x64 Update 1.

My Backup job often has ZERO bytes to backup; however, a .ZIP file is still created (I have Block mode enabled and the file that is triggering the backup is a PST file).

So I'm not sure if it is a bug, but my Outlook is closed, there are no updates whatsoever to the PST file, but Backup4All creates a ZIP file with the folder structure of my PST file and it is ZERO bytes. When you look in the log display, it also says ZERO bytes as the backup size.

Unfortunately, the .ZIP still takes up some space (albeit 258 bytes), but the bottom line is that there are no changes, so can this be stopped?

If not stopped, a new feature request would be to enhance the Cleanup process to also select based on Backup Size; then, the Scheduler can be used to cleanup such Zero-byte backups.

Thanks!

Hi,

We found there is a problem with the block backup option. We will fix that.
