Backup entries

Post by Klaatu »

In the backup destination folder, there appears two sub-folders (File Backup and File Backup1) containing the compressed backup files and these four entries (see attachment). What are these four entries and what use are they?

Hi,

"File Backup.bkc" - is the old backup catalog for your backup job.
"File Backup(1).bkc" - is the new backup catalog for the same job. It seems the old file could not be open/edit, so that is why a new file was created.
The other 2 files are the backups of the "File Backup(1).bkc" catalog. Since version 8 of Backup4all, there are 5 backups of the catalog stored in destination.

See attachment. The 11/28/2020 File Backup subfolder contains a zipped full backup archive (dated 11/28/2020), whereas the 12/6/2020 File Backup(1) subfolder contains two differential backup archives (dated 12/4/2020 and 12/6/2020).

Questions: 1) Why is there no 11/29/2020 zipped differential backup in the 12/6/2020 File Backup(1) subfolder for the 11/29/2020 entry, 2) Since the 11/28/2020 full backup archive has no corresponding entry (see prior attachment), does that mean it's useless (corrupt) and can be deleted, and 3) Why do the four entries in the prior attachment have different formats (the top two differ from the bottom two)?

Hi,

1. I need the backup log for that execution to find more information about it.

2. Yes, you can delete it.

3. The first two files are backups of the backup catalog. They have the backup date at the end of the file name and the job ID at the beginning of the file name.
The last two files are the backup catalog files and they have the .bkc extension
