Android Phone and WebDav

Post by Larry1957 »

New user to Backup4All and first post!
I'd like to backup pictures stored in a folder on an SD card on an Android phone. A google search led me to https://www.backup4all.com/back-up-your ... #bookmark2 that uses an app called WebDav Server. The reviews for WebDav server seem poor and old. I also see a WebDav PRO and WebDav Server-BestDav PRO. Does anyone have experience with these? I don't mind paying $3.99 for WebDav Server-BestDav PRO if it does what I want.

Hi,

The WebDav app only needs to map the phone as a local drive. No other special features are needed.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

I'd like to re-visit this topic. WebDav hasn't been updated since 2015 and reviews say it doesn't work on newer Android versions and an SD Card. I'm using Backup4All on my home PC network and it works great, but there should be a simple and easy way to backup specific folders on a phone SD card (scheduled and over the WIFI network).

I have an Android utility on my phone called CX File Explorer. It can see my PCs and shared folders. I can copy and paste files from phone to PC and the other way around. But, I want automatic scheduled backups from the SD Card to an external HDD on my home network.

Any suggestions? Or, should I look for an Android Backup program going from phone to PC HDD, and then use Backup4All from PC to PC?

Is anyone using BestDav Server instead of WebDav? Will that do what I want? (Newer program but I'm seeing some of the same comments about newer Android versions and SD Cards).

Hi,

We use WebDav with no problems.
Backup4all can only handle drives with a drive letter. As the mobile phone does not have one assigned by Windows, it cannot be accessed directly by Backup4all.
