After upgrading to 9 the service on 8 is still running and not automatically shutdown/disabled

Hi,

That is correct. Backup4all 9 is installed as a different application than Backup4all 8.
After you install Backup4all 9 and you import the backup jobs from version 8, you can manually uninstall Backup4all 8. It will not be automatically uninstalled.
