Hi,
Backing up a give list of files is not possible at this moment, with Backup4all.
As for the other cases you mention, there is a solution in Backup4all: to use filters.
You can use filters to include or exclude files containing a given name, you can also filter them by date and so on.

Re: Backing up mp3 files of a certain rating
Hi,
You can back up those files without a plugin.
If you can see the 5 star files in Windows Explorer, just select them and use drag-and-drop to add them into the backup sources list (in Backup Properties->Sources) of a new backup job.

Hi,
We cannot determine the files rating from the xml plugin used in Backup4all.

Re: Opening BKC file, then doing backup does full backup
Hi, Here is an article about how to do that: https://www.backup4all.com/backup-strategy-make-a-full-backup-locally-and-subsequent-incremental-backups-to-ftp-kb.html When changing the destination in such a case, please make sure the "Use local catalogs" option is not selected in Backup Properties->Ad...

Re: Virus found in update
Hi,
That is for sure a false positive, as each release of Backup4all is scanned with more than 50 antivirus applications and there is no infection inside.

Re: How Long to Keep Files and Folders Backup
Hi,
The "backup catalogs" is the .bkc file which stores information about the backed up files, backup numbers, versions, file size, paths, info etc
Keeping 7 versions of the catalog means you can have multiple previous versions of that catalog file, stored in destination.

Re: How Long to Keep Files and Folders Backup
Hi,
Please note you cannot combine Smart backup type with storing a specified number of backups in destination.
If you use the Smart backup type, Backup4all will automatically determine which is the best backup type to use.

Re: Metered network
Hi,
Backup4all does not have special features for metered networks.
In File->Options->Suspend, you can set suspend intervals, when Backup4all will not run jobs, even if scheduled.

Re: Incremental Backup Not Adding New Files
Hi,
That option is used to get a faster list of modified files using the NTFS journal from Windows.
If it's disabled, the normal scanning process for all sources will be used.

Re: Use local catalogs option
Hi, If you disable the "Use local catalogs" option, only the backup catalog from the currently connected destination drive will be used. That way, the backups will be independent on each destination drive. On each drive, a full will be performed, then an incremental with all new and modified files s...
