Re: Support for detection of moved source files

Thanks Adrian for the instructions. Unfortunately The first step resulted in the software going for a full backup. I see this in the log: [02/06/2020 22:12:35] Performing full backup because differential size (1,657.81 GB) exceeds 50 % of last full backup size I think at this point it would make mor...

How to reduce disk wear & tear by scheduling backup and sleep cycles

I have an old atom-based machine that I repurposed as a backup machine. I don't use it for any other purpose so I've set it to automatically wake up for scheduled backups, then put to sleep for the rest of the day. My hope is that this would reduce hardware wear and tear to the minimum, by ensuring ...

Re: Support for detection of moved source files

Was this by any chance implemented since the last post in 2018? My use case is that I have about 200 GB of photos in a bunch of folders named using the format "\Pictures\2019-MM-DD\". I'd like to move these under a parent folder so that the result is "\Pictures\2019\2019-MM-DD\". If I do so and then...

New permsion required: "See, edit, create, and delete all of your Google Drive files"

This is way more extreme than what's described in the guide: https://www.backup4all.com/how-to-backup-your-data-to-google-drive-kb.html Permission request in the guide: https://i.imgur.com/m8AEMNH.png Actual permission request: https://i.imgur.com/0m800iD.png Any reason for this change? I don't want...

Do a full backup locally, then subsequent incremental backups over LAN?

Is it possible to have the first initial backup locally and then have subsequent incremental backups done over LAN (to a shared folder on another Windows PC)? I use (recently purchased) Backup4all Professional 8.5.264 and would like to backup a few terabytes of photos.

Thanks!

Re: Is it possible to automatically shutdown the destination machine after the backup?

Ok, it's possible, but isn't built into Backup4all. You have to use a third party app called psshutdown and tweak the registry of the destination machine to allow remote shutdown. More details here:

Can Backup4all backup/restore Windows partition?

If not, is this feature planned? I really like Backup4all but need a solution for both file backup and OS backup.

Thanks!

Is it possible to automatically shutdown the destination machine after the backup?

I'd like to save power and reduce disk wear as much as possible, so only want the target machine (an old PC) to be on while the backup is running. I created a scheduled task on that machine to wake it up from sleep a few minutes before the backup, but how can I turn it off (or actually send to Sleep...
