Re: Warning: Premature end of file reached

Hi,

That problem appears on large backups, on large archive files created in temp.
Usually, the problem is the RAM memory.

When such a problem appears, please run a manual test by pressing the Test button to see it the problem really exists.

Hi,

Do you have the same problem if you restore the files to another location?

Re: Backup failure due to PC overheating and shutting down

Hi,

You have to run again that backup. As long as it did not finish, the backup catalog was not saved and no information about that backup was saved.

Re: Padlock icons after restore.

Hi,

Please compare the restored files attributes with the source files attributes. What is different?

Re: Full backup shows type as Incremental in log

Hi,

In the backup log, the default backup type selected in Backup Properties->Type is listed, no matter if another backup type was forced to be executed.

Re: Scheduled Tasks

Hi, In Backup4all there are 2 scheduler types: 1. The Windows Scheduler - it requires a password and will run no matter if the user is logged on or not. 2. The built-in scheduler - it does not require a password and will run only if an user is logged on. In your case, it seems the scheduled task ran...

Re: How to Exclude Registry files

Hi,

In Backup Properties->Filters, you can create a filter rule to exclude different file types.
Here is an article that can help you set up the filter: http://www.backup4all.com/kb/how-to-fil ... p-899.html

Re: Still Being Actively Developed?

Hi,

There were multiple Backup4all updates in the last year.
At this moment we are working on version 5 of Backup4all. I cannot tell you when it will be ready for release.

Re: Unable to backup open file

Hi, Backing up open files has the following limitations: It works - only on Windows XP or newer - only for users with administrator access rights to copy open files - only on local hard drives - only on NTFS formatted partitions - only if the VSS (Volume Shadow Service) is running and it is properly...
