Hi,
Can you give us more details about the problem?
What version of Backup4all do you have?
The speed is slow comparing with previous executions? or with another program.
Can you send us the last backup log to support[at]backup4all[dot]com ?

Re: Suggestions on setting up server backup
H,
You can try the beta version of Backup4all 6.
In Backup Properties->Compression, set the split limit size at the value you want and also select the "Create independent splits" option. That will create each split only after the previous one is removed from temp.

Re: Restore a folder from backup tree
Hi,
Right click and select Restore on a folder will restore only that folder.
Selecting multiple files and folders and right-click them should also restore only those selected.

Re: Disable "Volume Shadow Copy"
Hi,
Yes, you can disable that. Please open Backup Properties->Advanced page. Here you need to uncheck the "Backup open files" option, then press Save.

Re: Rebuild Backup Catalogue from Zips
Hi,
In version 5 of Backup4all you can repair the backup catalog. That means Backup4all will scan the destination against the information from catalog and will remove from catalog the files not existing in destination.

Re: Admin rights necessary?
Hi,
The Volume shadow copy service is part of Windows OS.
You need to fix the VSC service problem before trying to run the backup.
Please send us the last backup log to support[at]backup4all[dot]com

Hi,
Versions 1.x, 2.x, 3.x and 4.x of Backup4all are no longer supported. To benefit from support and the added functionality we highly recommend upgrading to the latest version.

Re: Restoring Backup4All configuration on new laptop
Hi,
You should restore in the original location.
Please note: if you have different user names on the old and new computers and your Backup4all settings were per user, the restore might not work correctly.

Re: Merge Backups?
Hi,
When you run the backup and the limit with merge is applied, the oldest incremental and the new incremental will be merged.
Backup version 4 and 10 will be merged, keeping only the latest version of each file (from these two archives).
