Re: Smartest way to replace a ”source folder” disk to a larger

Hi Adrian, They say that if you don't learn SOMETHING every day, then that day is wasted. You are absolutely correct about the creation date. I had to test it out to verify because I knew that the last modified date didn't change. Lo and behold, when you examine the properties of the file before and...

Re: Scheduled "Tag" job breaks backup engine

Hi Adrian, You are right, the IPC server could not be reached. Every scheduled task calls the bSchedStarter process when it triggers. We have about 45 individual backup jobs that run throughout the night and they have been running flawlessly every night, so I don't think it has anything to do with o...

Scheduled "Tag" job breaks backup engine

Here's an interesting one for you Adrian... Running B4A 8.8 Build 335. Tried later version, but it broke our backup connection to an industrial CNC controller running Win 98 so had to revert to previous version. (Yes, I know, Win 98...but this is one of those "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" situa...

Re: Smartest way to replace a ”source folder” disk to a larger

drtim, Any time I have changed the destination of a Mirror backup, Backup4All warns me that the backup will be recreated. It doesn't matter whether the change is a new drive letter or just a different folder on the same drive. If you gave your new drive the same drive letter as the old (after removi...

Re: Smartest way to replace a ”source folder” disk to a larger

johan12, Your plan is sound. Here are a few things to consider: You mentioned that your 4TB drive is for files only. If and ONLY if your operating system (Win 10) is located on another drive (or partition), then there is no need to clone the drive. Simply create a partition on the new drive, format ...

Re: Restore files from crypted .zip without .bkc

It's not complicated at all. You could: 1) Read the documentation and realize that if you use the "Mirror" type of backup, you can browse directly to your files within your backup just as if you were in the live folder. 2) If you truly want zipped, encrypted backups, create some batch command files ...

Re: Is it possible to configure a flat file backup job?

Yes, use the Mirror backup type. It copies the files with no compression or zipping.

Re: Posible to add a network location as source?

We use a single PC running Backup4All acting as a backup server to backup all of our networked PCs as well as our file servers to itself using Windows administrative shares. For example, in the "Sources" screen you posted, I would click on "Add a folder" and then type the UNC file path to the PC and...

Re: Password not Setting

It's probably not a good idea to post your license key and other personal info on a public forum, my friend. The Backup4All version is typically all you need to get started. Any other needed info will be requested by Adrian (as he did).

You may want to edit your post. ;)

Re: Backup types question

As I understand the manual, under the Mirror backup type, if you select the option to "Remove excluded or deleted files from backup", then any files that were previously backed up, will be deleted from the backup if they are deleted on the source. I have never personally used this option, as I said,...
