Re: attempt backup based on availability of destination

Hmm...looks like you're right, I misinterpreted the 12:30 minutes it takes for a job to fail. Looking at the individual log files, it's unclear what it's doing during that 12:30 minutes. [2021-05-08 10:08:15 PM] Checking backup destination (Network) Backup aborted. Reason: Cannot create folder "\\vi...

attempt backup based on availability of destination

As far as I can tell, if I schedule a backup job, it scans for new files, makes up a backup package, *then* tries to copy to the destination. The problem is, most of the time, my backup destination isn't online (it's another computer on my LAN). Is there a way to check for the availability of the de...

Warning: Size of file <file> in destination (1067452650) is different than the size stored in catalog (773047413)

Warning: Size of file <file> in destination (1067452650) is different than the size stored in catalog (773047413) Occasionally, I'll get this warning. The file size in the source is 773047413. When I extract the file from the destination, the file size is the same. In other words, I can find no file...

Re: Backing up mp3 files of a certain rating

Dragging and dropping would work, if this were a few dozen files. But this is probably a few hundred files, spread across dozens of directories. And I wouldn't want to manually do this every few months, since I add to my library and revise ratings all the time. Even Windows Search doesn't let me sea...

Re: Backing up mp3 files of a certain rating

How about the other suggestion, of providing a list of files to be backed up? That would be more universally useful.

Re: Opening BKC file, then doing backup does full backup

So I cancelled that backup, then tried forcing an Incremental backup. It quickly finished, and the log reported no files found. Then I tried the Backup (F6) option again, and it reported no files found. Strange. But at least it's working how I expect.

Backing up mp3 files of a certain rating

I rate my MP3s in iTunes, then write the rating metadata onto the files themselves via Orzeszek Ratings https://www.orzeszek.org/dev/ratings/ . Windows Explorer can then show these ratings, and one can even write advanced search queries to pull out only my 5 star files. My music library is pretty bi...

Opening BKC file, then doing backup does full backup

I have 900gb of files to backup via LAN (wifi). Going over the network took forever (would've taken over a week), so I took the hard drive out of the destination computer, connected it internally to my source computer, then did a backup. Still took 2 days, but at least it was done. I put that drive ...
