Re: Ability to drag and drop folders into "Sources" pane removed?

I think I've found the answer. In Windows 7 (as well as Vista, apparently), drag and drop operations cannot be performed between a regular and an elevated process. When I start Total Commander using the "Run as administrator" command, I can drag and drop files to Backup4All again. (Windows Explorer ...

Re: Ability to drag and drop folders into "Sources" pane removed?

I am always using the advanced mode, and since installing Backup4All on Windows 7, drag and drop onto the Sources panel is not available. The screenshot shows the window which does not accept dropped files. The behavior is the same for a new backup and when modifying existing backup jobs. The mouse ...

Re: Cannot backup a specific open file

Thanks for replying. All the conditions you have listed seem to be met, except I am not entirely clear about the permissions of an administrator account on Windows 7. I am the only user on the computer and my account is in the Administrators group. However, I still get the UAC prompts, e.g. when lau...

2 Feature requests for mirroring

(My final post for today :-) I have previously posted a few minor suggestions that I think could improve the program, but the following two feature requests would help enormously when mirroring files. 1. An option (possibly a separate action) to scan the destination folder and update the bkc file ac...

A few possible improvements

Just a few suggestions for improvements coming from almost 4 years of using Backup4All daily... 1. The left-hand pane with the list of groups and backups cannot be navigated by keyboard. It seems very strange that the control does not respond to keyboard input at all (arrow keys, etc). 2. In general...

Ability to drag and drop folders into "Sources" pane removed?

Backup4all Professional Edition 4.4 214 (registered user since 2006), Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. I was using the program under XP for a long time, and one of my favorite features, a great timesaver, was that I could drag and drop files and folders from a file manager directly onto the Sources pa...

Cannot backup a specific open file

Backup4all Professional Edition 4.4 214 (registered user since 2006), Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. I'm having trouble backing up a specific file which is opened by a running application. The option to back up open files is enabled, and the VSS service seems to be running fine. (It's a fresh instal...

Files in use are no longer backed up, VSS errors

System: Windows XP SP2 and SP3 (the same problem after updating to latest service pack); using administrator account; Backup4All Professional 4.3 build 175 I have used Backup4All since 2006, but the problem began only recently, without any changes to the system I have noticed. When trying to back up...

Regarding the ribbon interface

One of the questions in your survey asks users to rate the importance of the Office 2007-like ribbon interface. If indeed you are thinking of implementing it, please, please, *please* consider that the rationale for the original ribbon was not to modernize the look of Office apps, and not to make it...
