Re: Google Drive - MAx Path Length etc ?
We've finally got to the bottom of this problem and it's not Backu4all or Google Drive. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/fileio/naming-a-file Windows is limited to a max path length of 260 characters. I find this quite staggering in this day and age of 64 bit operating system (or eve...

Google Drive - MAx Path Length etc ?
Backup4All 7.3, Windows 7 We have an incremental backup that runs daily. First backup job backs up to local hard drive, incremental each night, all is fine. As a 2nd offsite backup we also run a 2nd job, mirror backup, using the same sources to Google Drive. Only runs after the first job has complet...

Re: Delete Files from Backup
Thanks for the reply. Don't think clean will do the job. I want to keep all the backup versions (they contain many other files that we need). I only want to delete versions (all versions in this case) of particular files within the backup versions. These are multi-gigabyte e-mail files that haven't ...

Delete Files from Backup
Backup4All 7.3
We have a large multi-version incremental backup built up of several years. Several large old files on the backup are no longer required and we don't want them backed up.
Is it possible to delete them from the backup .zips ?
Thanks
Neil

Re: Upgrade 4.8 to 7.3
Thanks, that worked.
I had to quit the application, restart, then go directly to Type - Storage to avoid getting locked in the error dialogue.

Re: Upgrade 4.8 to 7.3
I've now upgraded 4.8 to 7.3 and the existing backup job was auto imported on install. However now getting an error in Backup Properties / Type - "Save storage space method not set or invalid (see "type" page)" We do incrementals saving the last 10 versions without automatically making a full backup...

Upgrade 4.8 to 7.3
After many years successfully using 4.8 we are looking to upgrade to 7.3 to take advantage of cloud backups.
Can I do this as a direct upgrade install retaining all existing jobs or is it start from fresh ?
Cheers
Neil

Rebuild Backup Catalogue from Zips
Using Backp4All Professional 4.8 on Win7 64 Is it possible to rebuild the backup catalogue from the backup .zip files ? We run a nightly incremental backup and for various reasons need to keep a reasonable amount of old file versions. For well over a year this was left as keep all but as the total b...
