Ipc warning: GetRegisteredApps failed : Timeout waiting for a reply to imtRegister 0

I have Backup4All 5.5.839. It usually runs fine. Recently I got a message about a corrupted catalog file for one of my jobs. Now that job hangs at loading the catalog. I get the following series of error messages: [3/8/2017 4:00:20 PM] Ipc warning: Register failed : Timeout waiting for a reply to im...

Restore a folder from backup tree

In Backup View, I can restore an entire backup or I can restore an individual file, but if I click on a folder and try to restore that, it restores the whole backup. I haven't yet tried selecting several files, but I'd like to be able to select any combination of files and folders from the backup, a...

Re: Am I the only one that finds the tree views confusing?

Oh, my goodness, how cool! If I highlight a changed file in the Explore tree, the backup appears below, and if I right-click on the backup and choose compare with source, Beyond Compare opens up and does the compare for me! And I can add the last modified date to the columns shown for the backup. Th...

Am I the only one that finds the tree views confusing?

I have recently purchased downloaded version 5.5 for my new 64-bit Windows 7 laptop, and I have version 5.2 on my old 32-bit Windows 7 laptop. I'm backing up everything on the old laptop to a server, through a series of jobs of related files, and a couple of "special" jobs (Backup4all settings, Outl...

Re: Restoring Backup4All configuration on new laptop

Hunh. That will teach me to read the fine directions. If I go inside Backup4all and click "open", I see the folder that has the backup catalog in it, and when I click on that, the job definition is recreated. The test looks fine. Now I'm about to restore. But I'm not sure what to put for the locatio...

Restoring Backup4All configuration on new laptop

I just got a new laptop at work. I have Windows 7 32-bit on the old one, and Windows 7 64-bit on the new one. On the old laptop, I have Backup4all 5.2, build 632. On my new laptop, I have version 5.5, build 839. I created a backup job for the backup4all setting on the old laptop, and backed up to a ...

Re: Backup job hangs on "before" task, can't cancel

Thank you. I don't know the details of how SEP_autorun.exe works. I think it is part of Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), which is Symantec's centrally-managed enterprise antivirus program, although it could be something that was written by our IT department to enable clients to temporarily bypass...

Forum won't let me post

I just posted a reply in one thread, and then a few minutes later tried to post a reply in another thread, and the site won't let me. It says I can't post "so soon" after my last post. It is not "so soon" in terms of time, nor in terms of number of pages I've clicked through in between. The only thi...

Re: Backup job hangs on "before" task, can't cancel

Can anyone tell from the log what the reason was why it was hanging (including the slow response to canceling the job)?

Thanks,

Re: Backup job hangs on "before" task, can't cancel

I went to bed with B4A running. It looks like the job finally finished cancelling 49 minutes later. That seems a bit extreme to me. I'm going to chalk it up to a combination of overloaded laptop, VPN, remote server destination, remote backup catalog, and "before" task that may not actually complete ...
