I have this exact same problem trying to install an earlier version.
Have uninstalled 436, searched the registry and deleted any "Backup4all" references and it still insists on installing ver 436 even though I am using a 396 exe file from previous download.

Also, Those backups that are including excluded folders don't seem to be updating the backup catalog's. After letting these backups run their course including backing up excluded files and folders, the backup tries to save the same files again if the backup is run straight afterwards when nothing ha...

Your last part about files and folders being backed up that are not selected seems to agree with what I am seeing.

Hi,
You may well be right, but it just seems strange that the problem only occurs with the latest version and works OK in earlier version when nothing else on the computer is changed.

Hi, I have already tried setting the option to notepad, I should have said this in my first post. If you are unable to help via the forum then I will just put up with the fault. Maybe the next update will fix. It is not a major problem so I am a little reluctant to hand over control of my PC. Thanks...

Hi, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean other backup programs or other backup tasks within Backup4all. I use Acronis True Image 2011 for partition backup and this works fine.
