Backup to several devices at once?

Post by net_user »

Hello,

I often need to backup the same job to HDD and Flash at the same time. What I do is backup to HDD and then use a sync. program to copy those files to Flash, or I have to duplicate the backup job (create another job) and tune it to write to Flash. Is there an option to backup to HDD and Flash without me taking those extra efforts? Maybe this is a feature request.

Thanks.

Please read this article about how to do that:

Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

With this approach the second backup job looses many features, for example, for this second backup job I won't be able to browse and extract individual files inside zip-archives. For example, with the first backup job I can open Backup4all program and there browse the files included into the backup job using Backup View, from there I can select a required file and easily restore it. Since the second backup is be a mirror and deals with already backed up files (zip-archives) I will be able only to browse these zip-files and not the files included into zips.

If I also mirror the .bkc catalog file of the first job to overcome the above issue, it prompts for a correct drive name each time I want to restore a file using this mirrored .bkc catalog since the .bkc is tuned to HDD drive letter.

To explain briefly my requirement, I backup files at work and place a copy to Flash drive, then come home and want to work with the backups from the Flash drive in the same easy manner I as would do at work.

I think I am not the only one who wants to benefit from this scenario.

Thanks.

Hi,

The second (mirror) backup should be faster than the first one to save your time.
As an alternative you can create an exact copy of the first backup job to create another backup to the second destination drive and zip again all files to allow you to browse the sources in Explore view. That will take a longer time.
