How to solve: Cannot use USN journal... error?

Post by LordKaos »

Hi!

Yesterday I started to get this: "Cannot use USN journal for this backup. Reason: The backup type is Full".
The task was created some months ago and never get errors from it.

I googled for the reason and I only get confused.
I don't understand why this happens.

I'm using a full backup that runs twice every day and deletes the sources.
These are some of the selected options:
-Limited to 5 backups, without compression, without encryption.
-Use local catalogs, test backup, delete files after success.
-Backup open files (never opened....are simply stored zipped files generated 30 minutes before)
-Store temporary catalog data in memory.
-Smart file scanning.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi,

The message you get is not an error, it is just informal.
The USN journal is used to faster detect the modified source files in order to be backed up.
As explained in the help file, the USN journal is not used for Full backup type.

Hi!

The problem is that with this alert the backup fails and abort.
So no backup is made.

Hi,

You can disable the usage of the USN journal from Backup Properties->Advanced, by unchecking the "Smart file scanning mode" option.
