file sequence during backup

Post by dennis »

Using vers 3

When backups are running, I was watching a mirror this last time, the sequence that the files are backup is unusual. I am backing up 2 local drives D:, E: , a network drive M: and some file off a connected USB drive G:. I would have expect it to concentrate on one source first then the next, but it back some file of one drive , then some off another, don't know what sequence the file list is in , perhaps sorted by date. Would be much better to sort by file path so once source is completely backed up before the next begins.

I backup from some machines where the user might go home and turn off the machine, but the backup may take some files at the beginning and then others at the end. I would like to be able to turn off machine or let users know when their machine has been backed up.

hi,

The backup sources are processed in the alphabetical order. In your case, the file will be processed this way: D, E, G and M.
If this is not the order, please send us to support[at]backup4all[dot]com:
- the .bkc catalog file for that job. You can find the .bkc file if you go to View->Open folder->Destination folder.
- the .log file for the last backup job. To find it, please go to: View->Job Logs->Last Backup Log.
Put the files into a zip/rar archive.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
