not backing up all files ?

Postby marks » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:51 pm

We are using enterprise version, and we back up our file server. We rotate the external back up drives (NAS DRIVES)....but sometimes it doens't copy all new files since the last back up ? 1st we do a "full back up", then "fast mirror" after that...the chck box to copy "opn files" is checked....the only thing I can think is that somehow we check file splitting...could that do it ?

The end result is we are trying to mirror our file server, and rotate NAS drives weekly....so maybe the better question is HOW ? We don't need incremental, just a mirro copy of it. Any suggestions ?

Thanks
Mark

Hi,

Please open Backup Properties->Advanced.
Is the "Use local catalogs" option checked or unchecked?

HELLO, it was checked, I did uncheck it, but then it seems to always write a new back up (not just changed files)?? Maybe I should delete all the back up files first, then do a "full back up"...then set "mirror"....and then "uncheck" the "use local catalogs".......would that correct issue ?? Thanks

Hi,

That option must be disabled when using the rotation scheme.
Please read this article for detailed instructions: http://www.backup4all.com/kb/how-to-backup-on-two-external-drives-using-the-daily-rotation-scheme-259.html
