OneDrive and BackupMaxSpace / disk space

Post by drc »

Hello all,

I'm wondering whether v7.0.206 has broken something with OneDrive. I was successfully backing up with OneDrive. I'm now getting a 'Not enough backup free space to make incremental backup' error. I don't get this when backing up to local ftp. Note: I alternative between local ftp and oneDrive every other day.

A search of this forum reveals several posts in this respect, the latest being June 22 this year. I've posted the applciable extract from the log below. What confuses me is that I have plenty of disk space on the PC (123 GB free); stacks of space on OneDrive (using 241GB out of 1TB) and the back-up works for the local ftp system.

Any thoughts? Am i being stupid somewhere? Thanks.

Hi,

In Backup Properties->Type, it seems you set the maximum backup size at 50 GB.
Please increase that limit of disable it.

Perfect. Thanks. as it happens I'd just worked that out myself!!

For others let me explain the nuance:

You get two options: (i) limit the back size to a % of the destination; and (ii) to a specific size. The default is 80% of the destination size *unless* you choose a remote location.

If you are backing up to a remote location, the default changes to a a specific size with a default of 50GB.

If you then try and select a '% of the destination' you get a warning that the destination size for remote locations cannot be determined so you should use a fixed limit. So the natural inclination tends to be to revert to the fixed size which, by default is 50GB.

Hence the 50GB limit - or that's my excuse!
